Shrimp Fra Diavolo is a dish that packs a punch, thanks to its spicy tomato sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Served over a bed of linguine, it’s a hearty and satisfying meal that is so simple to make.
Tips:
- For the wine, choose a dry wine like a Chardonnay or a Pinot. You don’t want to use a sweet wine because it will clash with the spiciness.
- Adjust the red pepper flakes for the level of heat to your liking.
- If you want it creamy, try adding a splash of heavy cream.
- Want more seafood? You can add scallops or clams with the shrimp.
- Don’t love seafood? Make Chicken Fra Diavolo.
If you love pasta try my Penne alla Vodka with Chicken or my Authentic Italian Sunday Gravy which you can add to any of your favorite pasta.
Why should pasta cooking water be added to the sauce?
Pasta cooking water helps to loosen the sauce and allows it to cling better to the pasta due to the starches released during cooking.
Can you make Easy Shrimp Fra Diavolo in advance?
You can make the Fra Diavolo sauce up to a day in advance, just don’t add the shrimp. Refrigerate the sauce. When ready to serve, simply reheat the sauce, cook the shrimp, and combine.
