Yes, you can use frozen spinach to make cheesy sausage spinach bread! In this recipe I used fresh spinach, I find it easy and quick to use.

  • 2 tbls sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Cook the sausage:
    • Remove sausage from casings.
    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add sausage to skillet. Using the back of your spoon, break sausage into small pieces as it cooks. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
    • Add the oil and chopped garlic, sauté for 1 minute.
    • Stir in the spinach and cook until wilted. Season with salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes(if using).

    • Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
  • Roll and seal:
    • Starting from a long side, fold over the dough to the center. Now fold in both ends. Fold over the last side to the center, and gently press down to seal.
    • Using both hands, carefully flip bread over so the seam side is facing down.
  • Egg wash and bake:
    • Brush the top with beaten egg.
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Cut a few small slits on top of the bread.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
